Like his long-time friend Margaret Atwood, who called him her “astral twin”, bill bissett is enjoying his 80th birthday this fall. The eminent poet, painter and performance artist will be celebrating his life and career at the Tarragon Theatre on Dec. 9 with some special friends: poet, professor and performer Adeena Karasick, essayist Linda Rogers, bill's former publisher and Order of Canada recipient Karl Siegler, bill's publisher Kevin Williams, legendary poet and vocalist Paul Dutton, ECW publisher Jack David and poet David Bateman and, via video, award-winning poet Christian Bok and musicians The Chemical Brothers as well as surprise guests. In addition, bill's artwork will be shown all evening at Tarragon's Gallery along with Jim Andrews' video interpretations of bill's concrete poetry.
Pages UnBound invites bill bissett's friends and admirers to come for a very special evening: a multi-media celebration of his life and career. In keeping with bill's creative spirit, this event is free for all, but donations to bill's brethday fund will be gratefully accepted.
